PLAYOFFS: Iowa City Regina rolls by Central Decatur 56-14

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) - In Class 1A, four-time defending state champion Iowa City Regina hosted Central Decatur.

It would be a shoot out early between these two teams. The Regals would get on the board first.

From the shotgun, Quarterback Drew Cook would find receiver Nathan Stenger downfield.

Stenger would sprint 35 yards to the end zone, and Regina goes up by seven.

The Cardinals would answer. Quarterback Trenton Wells would call his own number and rumble 20 yards to the big house. With the extra point, Central Decatur tied it at seven.

Still in the first, Cook throws again, this time to running back Conner Brown, who would streak down the far sideline 35 yards to the end zone. Another extra point, and the Regals are up 14 to seven.

While the Cardinals would keep it close early, the defending state champion would be just too much for them to handle in the second half.

The Regals go on to win Friday easily, 56 to 14.
