Witnesses led police to charge Tronca with murder

Posted: Updated:

Officers say it was witnesses that led them to charging Anthony Tronca with murder.

On September 9th, officers took a missing persons report, looking for Ronald Randall.

"That rapidly evolved into a homicide investigation or I should say a death investigation then a homicide investigation. Just the way it all came together it was so unique," said Dan Trelka, Waterloo Director of Safety Services.

According to the criminal complaint, a woman then told officers she heard Randall had been murdered.

"The more people we talked to, the more information we got. And then the information people were giving us actually ended up providing physical evidence as we went along," said Trelka.

T
relka declined to elaborate on that physical evidence, but he wouldn't give that information to protect the investigation. He says witnesses along with the physical evidence led to police charging Anthony Tronca with murder.

That also led them to believe Tronca did it at his place of business, AJT Auto.
