Two injured following Dubuque crash

Posted: Updated:

Two people were injured in a two vehicle crash that took place Thursday afternoon on Loras Boulevard and Algona Street.

Dubuque Police said a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Marquin Alberty, 22, of Dubuque, was driving northbound on Algona. Police say he stopped at the stop sign at the Loras Boulevard intersection and then attempted to turn left on Loras Boulevard. However, police say he did not yield to a 1994 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Sheryl Helling, 72, of Dubuque.

The vehicles collided in the intersection, sending the Helling vehicle over the curb on the northwest corner of the intersection.

Helling and her passenger were both transported by Dubuque Fire/Ambulance to Finley Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Dubuque Police said Alberty was cited for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign.
