DES MOINES (KWWL) -

An annual health report found Iowa is healthier than other states when it comes to vaccinations but still struggles with obesity, smoking and binge drinking.

Iowa leads the nation in the percentage of older Iowans who received an influenza and pneumonia vaccination, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH)'s 2013 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) Annual Report.

IDPH says the percent of Iowans age 65 and over who reported having a flu shot declined in relative standing among the states from past years, but Iowa still has the highest percentage in the nation.

Meanwhile, the survey found more Iowans reported to be overweight or obese than reported in the 2012 report.

The number of smokers also increased from 2012 to 2013.

The BRFSS also found Iowa to be one of four states with a higher prevalence of reported binge drinking.
