SIOUX CITY (KWWL) -

Congressman Steve King has been serving in Congress since 2003, and it doesn't look like he will be leaving anytime soon.

King, of Kiron, has successfully claimed the 4th congressional district again, and claiming another win in the GOP's favor Tuesday night.

Though full results weren't in yet, King claimed victory and Democrat challenger Jim Mowrer conceded in emails to reporters after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. King was leading at that time with 61 percent of the vote.

After casting his ballot this morning in Odebolt, King spent the day talking with constituents. He went on to celebrate his win this evening at a watch party at the Stoney Creek Inn in Sioux City.

"I am honored to once again have the trust and support of my constituents," King said in an email Tuesday night. "Together we have work to do as we restore the pillars of American Exceptionalism including the Rule of Law, eliminating the IRS and the income tax and instituting The FairTax, and drastically reducing the size and scope of government.

"The results of this campaign provide a clear mandate for conservative solutions, while also showing voters soundly rejecting the disastrous policies set for by President Obama and the dishonesty by the liberal left."

Mowrer gave credit to his campaign.

"I continue to believe in bringing Americans together. It's not only a more mature politics than the politics of division - it's the only way that we'll be able to face the challenges that lie ahead. Working together, serving our country, and sacrificing when needed will not be easy, but it will allow us to embrace the future instead of cowering in fear at the thought of tomorrow.

"Though this is the end of one campaign, service to our country is a lifetime commitment. It's a commitment we've made together. We must continue to work together, not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans. With your help and support, I look forward to embracing tomorrow together."

The 4th District covers 39 counties in northwest and north-central Iowa, including Ames, Sioux City, Fort Dodge and Mason City.
