Black Hawks hosting "Political Loser Night" Friday

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) - With Election Day finally here, the Waterloo Black Hawks are offering their patrons a reward for "enduring" all the political ads, emails and mailings.

Friday's hockey game against the Madison Capitols is now deemed "Political Loser Night."

Fans who bring a piece of political junk mail from a losing candidate will receive $1 off of a regularly-priced ticket to the game.

A losing candidate's yard sign will be worth $3 off of a ticket.

Any losing candidate whose name was on the ballot in Black Hawk, Benton, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Fayette, Floyd, Grundy, or Tama counties will receive a free game ticket.

Orders are limited to two reduced or free tickets per order.

“With the tone of this year's election getting ever more negative, the Black Hawks want to remind people that America is a really great place, and despite what the ads say, the country is not going to fall apart if the candidate you vote for doesn't win,” Black Hawks Vice President Mike Falk said in a written statement.

“Whether you're a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or Independent, we want you to be part of our party,” he added.

Also, since Nov. 7 is the anniversary of the 2000 Presidential Election between George W. Bush and Al Gore, anyone who shows up to Young Arena dressed as Bush, Gore or Justice William Rehnquist will have the chance to win prizes during the "Political Loser Night Look-Alike Contest." Justice Rehnquist wrote the Supreme Court decision which settled the Bush v. Gore case.

Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7.
