2 Hawkeyes honored after thrashing of Northwestern 48-7

Two Hawkeyes have been honored by the Big Ten Conference for the roles they played in Iowa's 48 to 7 thrashing of Northwestern on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.

Senior defensive tackle Louis Trinca-Pasat was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week with Michigan's Jake Ryan, while freshman running back Akrum Wadley was named Freshman of the Week.

Trinca-Pasat, a Chicago native, notched three quarterback sacks for -29 yards, three solo tackles and two assists. Northwestern was held to 180 yards of total offense. This is the first weekly conference honor of his career.

Wadley led all Hawkeye running backs with 106 yards on 15 carries. He scored Iowa's final touchdown of the game on a 5-yard run. Wadley is the first Hawkeye in 11 games to surpass 100 rushing yards.

Trinca-Pasat and Wadley are the first Hawkeyes to receive weekly conference honors since junior defensive end Drew Ott was named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8.

Desmond King was the last Hawkeye to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. He earned that honor on Oct. 21, 2013.

The 6-and-2 Hawkeyes travel to Minnesota for the annual battle for Floyd of Rosedale on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 11 a.m. The game can be seen on ESPN2.
