A Cedar Falls man was seriously injured after police say he failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by an SUV.

Nathan Wilson, 24, of Cedar Falls was driving a Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Hwy. 218 when he exited onto the Lone Tree Road off-ramp, according to Cedar Falls Police.

Police say Wilson made an improper pass on the right while on the off-ramp and failed to stop for the stop sign at the off-ramp at Lone Tree Road.

That's when police say Wilson's motorcycle was struck by a westbound Honda SUV driven by Kimberly Leer, 55, of Fairbank. Leer was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Wilson sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo, and later airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, according to police. Leer was uninjured in the crash.

Wilson was wearing a helmet at the time. Police say charges are pending.

Cedar Falls Police were assisted by Cedar Falls Fire and Rescue, Wheaton Franciscan Paramedics and the Iowa State Patrol.
