Trick-or-treaters: a numbers game for Dubuque man

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Halloween is much more than just costumes and decorating, for one Dubuque man it's about numbers.

Since the 1990's Mike Brannon has been counting how many trick-or-treaters he gets each year at his home in Dubuque.

It all started when his sister purchased him a counter.

"I'm a numbers guy," Brannon said.

Brannon said each year the number of visitors has grown. He said when he first started counting the number of trick-or-treaters he had in the 90's it was around 300. He said last year he had a total of 1,200.

"Halloween is a big deal in our family. My wife grew up on a popular street here in Dubuque and now that we live on Grandview it's just evolved into a fun holiday for us," Brannon said.

Brannon said this year numbers were down, he believes due to the cold weather. He had 913 trick-or-treaters this year.
