Two injured in 15-25 foot construction fall

Posted: Updated:

Two men are in the hospital after a fall from a construction lift Friday.

It happened around 3 p.m. in Cedar Falls. A DZI Construction crew was working on a new building near Walmart and Menards on E. Viking Rd.

A worker on the construction site told KWWL, the two men were in the basket of the lift moving it forward when a tire slipped on a piece of plastic. The lift then tipped over with the two men inside.

Cedar Falls Fire & Rescue officials estimate the fall was between 15-25 feet. They declined to release much information about the accident, citing a possible OSHA investigation.

Both men were taken to the hospital. They are expected to survive, but their exact conditions are not available.

When asked if high winds played a role in the accident, fire officials declined to comment.

DZI Construction lists an office location in Michigan. KWWL reached out them for comment on the accident and will update this story with their response.
