A young culinary professional, recognized by First Lady Michelle Obama, will be in eastern Iowa.

8-year old, Anabel Bradley and her mom will be having a 3-part cooking class at the Kirkwood Culinary Kitchen at NewBow, Saturday.

NewBo City Market has seen its fair share of special guest chefs and instructors come through the Kirkwood Culinary Kitchen, but Bradley is by far the most unique.

This summer, Bradley was one of 54 students who's recipe won her a trip to Washington D.C. as a part of the annual Healthy Lunchtime Challenge & Kid's State Dinner, where she made her favorite dish, Over the Rainbow Veggie Pancakes.

“We are so honored to have Anabel visit the Market!” Says NewBo's Executive Director Kristie Wetjen. “She's inspiring kids across the nation to eat better – she's showing them that good food can be healthy and tasty.”

Bradley's menu will include her signature savory pancakes, pumpkin hummus with homemade pita chips, homemade applesauce, fruit and cheese mini kabobs, and more.

The hour-long class will begin at 11 and end at noon.

The classes are a part of the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge program that is co-sponsored by Michelle Obama and Epicurious. All the ingredients have been donated by the New Pioneer Co-Op.
