After a close first quarter, North Fayette Valley turned on the afterburners and rolled right past Monticello 74-9.
The Tigerhawks opened the scoring on their first drive of the game. Derrick Kuehner scored on a 2-yard run set-up by a big 38-yard connection from Kedrick Bemiss to Austin DeMuth.
Monticello responded by capitalizing on a Tigerhawk turnover. Jacob Easton picked off Bemiss near mid-field. Minutes later, Peyton Paddock hit a 24-yard field goal to pull the Panthers within 4.
The defense, however, couldn't stop North Fayette Valley's offense. Kuehner broke through the line and in to the open on a 64-yard touchdown run for a 14-3 lead.
The Panthers responded as Easton returned the ensuing kick-off for a score, but that would be about the last positive thing to happen for Monticello on the night.
North Fayette Valley came back on their next drive with Josh Mackey scoring on a 47-yard run.
After that, Kuehner found the end zone for the third time on the night as the Tigerhawks finished the game with 59 unanswered points to storm in to the second round of the playoffs.
