BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office says three men were injured when a semi collided with a pick-up on Tuesday.

Deputies were called to Jesup Road just south of Fox Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say a semi driven by 25-year-old Chad Durnil of Jesup was headed north when it collided with the pick-up driven by 70-year-old James Schmitz of rural Jesup.

They says the semi crested a hill just before crashing into the pick-up that was backing out from a field drive in the 5800 block of Jesup Road.

Schmitz was taken to Covenant Medical Center after he was freed from the truck.

Two passengers, 54-year-old Darrell Schmitz of Altoona and 61-year-old Steven Delagardelle of rural Jesup, were able to get out of the truck on their own.

Darrell Schmitz was taken to Covenant Medical Center, and Delagardelle was taken to Allen Hospital.
