Black Hawk County announces polling location changes

Posted: Updated:
BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) - The Black Hawk County Election Office says two changes have been made to polling locations since the 2013 elections.

For Tuesday's general election, Central Christian Church, located at 3475 Kimball Avenue, will be the polling place for Waterloo Ward 5 Precinct 6. This replaces Hoover Middle School.

Voters are asked to use caution while entering the upper level driveway to the parking lot because of construction on Kimball Avenue. Voters should use the main entrance. Voting will take place in the library area.

The YMCA, located at 669 South Hackett Road, is the new voting location for Waterloo Ward 1 Precinct 2. This replaces St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.

Voting will take place in the multipurpose room.

All voters will receive post cards notifying them of the changes.

Four other changes have been made since the 2012 general election.

Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, located at 1307 W. Ridgeway Avenue, is the polling place for Waterloo Ward 1 Precinct 5. This replaces Parkview Nursing Home.

The Dunkerton Public Library, located at 203 E. Tower Street, is the new polling place for Barclay and Lester Townships and the City of Dunkerton. This replaces Dunkerton City Hall.

The Dewar Community Center, located at 1731 N. Raymond Road, is the polling place for Poyner Township Precinct 1 and East Waterloo Township. This replaces Raymond City Hall.

Elk Run Heights City Hall, located at 5042 Lafayette Rd, Elk Run Heights, is the polling place for Raymond citizens living within Raymond city limits.

The Gilbertville American Legion, located at 1110 6th Street, is the polling place for Poyner Township Precinct 2, Fox Township, Gilbertville, and that part of Jesup in Black Hawk County. This replaces the Fire Station.

Post cards were sent to voters in these four precincts.

To verify your polling places, check the county website, co.black-hawk.ia.us. Choose “Election Precincts,” then click on “Address” and follow the instructions.

The site will give the polling place for that address, a copy of the ballot in that precinct and other information.
