Senator Marco Rubio stumps for fellow senators grandson

When your last name is Grassley, it could attract some important people.

That's the case for state Representative Pat Grassley, who's running for re-election to represent a portion of three area counties.

Pat Grassley is Chuck Grassley's grandson, and Wednesday fellow U.S. Senator Marco Rubio campaigned for Pat in Waterloo.

Grassley is running against democrat Doris Fritz from Grundy Center.

He says he's very fortunate for his grandfather to bring people like Senator Rubio to events like this. He says having these events is good because it brings in people who usually wouldn't care about the election, but both Grassley and Rubio say good ol' fashion door knocking is still important to voters.

"Not only is it good for the voter, good for the process. I think it's good for the candidate. I miss those days when I was a state legislator in Florida and knew my voters. I knew my constituents because I would knock on their doors every years," said Rubio.

As for if Senator Rubio will run for president in 2016, he says he's still making that decision. He says if he does decide to run for president, Iowa will figure prominently in that decision.

"Where is the best place for me to do that from. Is it to continue to serve in the Senate for another six years or is it as a candidate for president and that's a decision I'll have to make and of course if I decide to run for president Iowa will figure prominently  in that decision," said Senator Rubio.
