Could chocolate reverse memory loss? Maybe

Posted: Updated:
(CNN) - An apple a day might keep the doctor away, but if that doesn't work you might want to try a chocolate bar.

A study published in Nature Neuroscience found a link between a natural compound in cocoa and reversing age-related memory loss.

The compound, called flavanol, increased blood flow and neural connections in parts of the brain related to memory function in mice.

However, researchers were also quick to warn that the amount of flavanol found in a typical chocolate bar was minuscule compared to the samples used in the study.

The study was partially financed by a chocolate company.
