Iowa City Police investigate robbery

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - Iowa City Police are investigating a robbery that happened early Sunday morning.

Police say officers took a report of a robbery just before 2 a.m. that occurred in the 300 block of S. Clinton St.

The adult victim reported he was walking near the Hieronymus parking lot when he heard footsteps approaching from behind him. Police say he was then confronted by two males.

According to the report, one of the males struck the victim with a solid object across the head. The victim reported the two males then held a solid object, which he believed to be a handgun, to the back of his head and instructed him not to move. The two males then stole an undisclosed amount of property or money, and fled the area.

Police say the victim suffered a laceration to his head and was treated by a Johnson County Ambulance.

The suspects were described as two black males, possibly in their early 20's.
