Dike-New Hartford has already locked up a playoff berth, and still had an outside shot at a share of the district title. Jesup needed a win to have any shot at making the Class 1A state playoffs.
The Wolverine fans were crazy, and with good reason. Within just a few minutes, they were up 14-0.
They kept that momentum moving in the first half, with Connor Ragsdale fighting for yards repeatedly.
The real standout of the first quarter was a Dike-New Hartford punt. It bounced ,a Jesup player got a hand on it, and the Wolverines' Ragsdale recovered just inches from the goal line. They rallied that into yet another touchdown.
Jesup came back strong from that, with Brendan Murray coming through traffic and heading all the way to the end zone. 21-7 Dike-New Hartford.
There were some huge kick returns in this game. Later in the first half, Connor Neuroth picked one up, and juked his way all the way to the end zone -- but it was brought back to the 40 for a teammate's block in the back.
Then the fog rolled in, and so did Dike-New Hartford. They kept the touchdowns coming, and ended the half with a huge diving interception by Preston Wheat.
The ended the half up 35-7, and the Wolverines kept that going to maul the J-Hawks 49-20.
