Cedar Falls crushes Waterloo East, 59-0, in regular season final

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) - The explosive Cedar Falls offense got help from its aggressive defense Friday night in a 59-0 rout of Waterloo East in the regular season finale for both schools.

Cedar Falls finishes the regular season at 7-2, while East goes without a victory for the second straight year at 0-9.

Cedar Falls used its two-quarterback system effectively against the Trojans, as Trey Hansen fired two first-half touchdown passes, including a 75-yarder to Denison Harrington.

Taylen Alexander controlled the Tiger offense and also threw a first-half TD pass to Tyler Schmidt.

Jared Halterman had a fumble recovery for a 27-yard touchdown, and Ben Fienup scored from the 7 as Cedar Falls built a 39-0 halftime lead and cruised to the 59-0 victory.

The season is over for Waterloo East, while Cedar Falls will get to host a first-round playoff game in the UNI-Dome.
