Car crashes into Cedar Rapids Driver's License Station -- again

Posted: Updated:

A driver crashed a car into the Cedar Rapids Driver's  License Station and it's not the first time it's happened.

Cedar  Rapids police tell KWWL  that a driver accidentally hit the wrong pedal and the car crashed into the wall of the building at 3726 Queen Ct SW.

The driver was walking around after the crash and did not appear to be injured. While a tow truck driver was called, he ended up just putting the car in reverse and backing it out of the building.

According to the tow truck driver, this is the second time he's  responded  to the Driver's License Station for a report of a car crashing into the building. This station just opened in January after the previous location closed. Police officers did not believe that cars crashed into that location because the setup there was different.

An officer on the scene told KWWL's Michelle Corless that charges are not likely because the crash happened on private property. He says it's now an issue for the insurance companies.
