Former UIHC employee sentenced to three years probation for mail fraud

A former employee at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics was sentenced to three years of probation after she pleaded guilty to mail fraud charges.

Jennifer Robyn Whitmore-Meier, 37, of Colorado also has to pay $300 to the Crime Victim Fund and restitution.

Whitmore-Meier was an IT consultant for UIHC from 2002-2011. She purchased more than 500 items with University money without getting approval first, then sold the items on eBay. She made more than $122,000 in profit. She also used University money to pay shipping costs and to buy personal items from the website.

Whitmore-Meier also transferred more than $118,000 of University money to her  personal bank account.

She pleaded guilty to three counts of mail fraud.
