Michelle Obama returns to Iowa to campaign for Bruce Braley

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - First Lady Michelle Obama returned to Iowa Tuesday to campaign for  Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Braley. She wasn't shying away from the mistake she made last time she came to Iowa, when she called Braley "Bruce Bailey."

"Although I may have slipped up on Bruce's name a couple of times, what I know I got right are Bruce's values," said Obama.

From there Obama moved on, talking about changes in the country since her husband took office, like a better economy and healthcare reform.

She also discussed about ongoing issues that matter to the President and Braley -- things like college affordability.

"I'm a student here at the University of Iowa so it's nice to hear someone talk about my demands and what I'm looking for in a senator,"  said Emily Arvola, UI Student.

Despite taking place on the University of Iowa campus, not everyone in the crowd was a college student. Some were much younger, skipping school to go.

"As they say, they've already been to her house," said Amy Thompson, a Coralville mother who brought her sons.  "They wanted to meet the woman that lives there. And they've also had the opportunity to meet Grassley so it's nice they get the opportunity to meet Braley as well."

Braley pushed his agenda and asked people to vote for him.

"I say they're wrong and we have 14 days to prove them wrong," said Braley.

The event just had some added star power, courtesy of the White House.
