Aplington man pleads guilty to child porn charge

An Aplington man is headed to federal prison for more than 16 years after pleading guilty to possessing child porn.

Jeremiah Romo, 21, pleaded guilty on May 27, 2014 to one count of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced on Monday.

According to court officials, Romo admitted at his plea hearing that he possessed child pornography, some of prepubescent children. He also admitted that, in 2008, he was found guilty of second degree sexual abuse.

Romo was sentenced to 16 years and eight months in federal prison. He will be on supervised release for 20 months when he's released from prison. He must also comply with all sex offender registration and public notification requirements.
