CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A former Cedar Rapids attorney pleaded guilty in federal court after defrauding more than a dozen clients.

Susan Hense was convicted on one count of wire fraud.

In a plea agreement, Hense admitted that she defrauded clients of her law firm, Hense Law PLC.

She admitted to telling clients that money belonging to them would be kept in a trust for them when she really intended to steal some of it.

Hense said she stole more than $800,000 in a three-year period.

Hense is currently out of jail awaiting sentencing. She faces a possible sentence of 20 years in prison.

Hense has been debarred and can no longer practice law in Iowa.
