33rd Ave SW in Cedar Rapids is peaceful now but neighbors say that Sunday the whole area was loaded with police officers.

"You wouldn't believe how many cars were there," said Joe Simmons, who lives on the street. "They must have all been in this one area."

Cedar Rapids police believe William Yancey hit another car at 33rd Ave and J St SW, than ran off.

Yancey is already wanted on multiple other charges, including probation violation, assault, and theft.

After searching the area for hours, officers left a home Sunday afternoon.

"The guy was in her house," said Simmons. "She spotted him in there and then he run out of the house and took off."

We knocked on that person's door but there was no answer. Police say the house was "unsecured."

Yancey was last seen running near Clover Dr and Outlook Dr SW.

"I saw him run down the street," said Maxine Wall, who lives near that intersection. "He had no shirt on and black pants."

She called police but they still were not able to catch the man. Knowing he'd already hidden nearby, police searched her home.

"There was a lot of police cars up here and they just couldn't find him," said Wall.

Police say Yancey may be armed and he is dangerous.

He's described as being 5'10", 200 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Police believe he currently has long hair.
