Hudson took the lead with an early 3rd-quarter touchdown and turned back the upset bid of MFL MarMac, 24-20, in a Class 1A District 4 match up Friday night in Hudson.
MFL took control of the game early, getting two rushing touchdowns from Bryce Burke and a touchdown pass from Tristen Kautman to Austin Schoulte.
Hudson got back in the game on an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Jesse Murray. Murray broke a tackle, got loose down the Pirate sideline and outran the Bulldog defenders to finish a spectacular touchdown run.
The Pirates pulled to within 20-14 at half on a touchdown pass from Dylan Hassman to Austin Roth. Hassman had to scramble out of the pocket, and as he rolled to his left, saw Roth along the sideline. The perfect pass and catch put the Pirates in position for a second-half rally.
Early in the 3rd quarter, the Pirates scored, when Hassman fired over the middle to Shane Karkosh to tie the game at 20.
The Pirates Dylan Hassman kicked the point to put the Pirates ahead, 21-20.
Later, Dylan Hassman would add a field goal to secure the Pirates 24-20 victory over the Bulldogs.
The victory improves Hudson to 6-2 on the season heading into next week's game at undefeated and 2nd-ranked South Winn.
MFL MarMac falls to 2-6 on the year and will play host to Waterloo Columbus next Friday night.
