Iowa Women picked 3rd in the Big Ten

The Iowa Hawkeye Women's Basketball team has been picked to finish third in the Big Ten Conference in the preseason media poll.  Maryland coached by Cedar Rapids native Brenda Frese is favored to win the league title.  The Terps which made it to the Final Four last season is in its first year in the Big Ten.  Michigan State is picked to finish third.

    The Cedar Rapids Kernels registered eight doubles and scored the first eight runs of Monday’s 10-4 triumph over the Lake County Captains in the rubber game of a three-game series at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

    Steven Ihm came close to his first career professional win on Sunday. Ihm carded a 65 on the final round of the Utah Championship finishing at 23 under par. That put him one stroke behind the Web.com tournament champion Cameron Champ.
