CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The new City Services Center in Cedar Rapids will officially host their open house.

The new center is used to house a number of vehicle and equipment for plowing, sewer maintenance, street construction and other city services.

The event will be Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the City Services Center, located at 500 15th Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids.

The city says services center serves as an important hub for delivering services to the community, and also includes both office space and a large garage/warehouse space that serves as home base for a number of vehicles and equipment in the city's fleet.

The open house will include a tour of the building that's open to the public, a viewing of a fleet of vehicles, visiting city staff, along with games and activities.

Papa Balloon will be on hand creating balloon masterpieces for the kids.

Kids (and kids-at-heart) can climb in city vehicles, get a close-up view of equipment different departments used to keep the city running safe, and dress up in a variety of work uniforms.

A dedication ceremony will take place in the lobby at 4:30 p.m.
