Woman arrested for spattering nurse with blood

Posted: Updated:

An Iowa City woman is accused of spattering a nurse with blood after being denied narcotics.

Rose Sutton was arrested on Monday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. According to authorities, she was being treated for a seizure in the emergency room when she was told she wouldn't receive more drugs. She became angry, and told the nurse she was leaving.

The nurse told her not to remove her IV, since she has hepatitis and the area needed to be covered. According to the police report, she ripped out the IV anyway, splattering the nurse's face and clothing with her blood.

She has been charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, a serious misdemeanor.

She was released from jail Tuesday morning.
