Cedar Rapids volunteers build new play space at park

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Volunteers in Cedar Rapids are gathering Saturday to build a new space at Edward Hidder Park for people of all ages to enjoy.

From 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., volunteers will be working to build a 43,740 square foot play space at Hidder Park, located at 10th St. and 14 Ave. SE in Cedar Rapids. The goal is to complete the project in six hours.

The customized, multi-generational playground was created from drawings and input from local community members during a design event in August.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new play area is scheduled to take place from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
