Cedar Rapids Washington, in a tie for number one in the state with Bettendorf, put their unbeaten record on the line at Cedar Rapids Prairie.
Prairie tried to steal the momentum on the opening kickoff. The Hawks Joseph Vizzini recovered the perfectly-placed onside kick by Samuel Drysdale, but Prairie went three-and-out.
Later on in the 1st quarter, Washington's Landen Akers fielded the Jomaryon Simpson punt and took it 39 yards to the 11-yard line, but Simpson made him pay with a vicious tackle.
But that didn't stop the Warriors from capitalizing a few plays later, when Johnny Dobbs scored the TD from 2 yards out. 7 to nothing visitors.
In the second quarter, Washington put together a nice drive. Reid Snitker completed the 13-yard pass to Dallas Hobbs.
That sets up a controversial play, Snitker completed the pass to Connor Vincent, but is he in? The Prairie players and fans say he isn't, but the officials say he is.
That put the Warriors up 14 to nothing at the half, much to the delight of the visiting fans who didn't seem to have trouble keeping warm.
Warriors would go on to win 28 to 6, and stay unbeaten.
