Heard sirens in Hudson? It's not a fire

HUDSON (KWWL) -

Heard sirens in Hudson tonight? Fire officials hope so, and no, it wasn't a real fire.

The Hudson Fire Department recognized fire prevention week Wed. night by tearing around town with their sirens on.

Fire trucks ran for about 10 minutes starting at 6 p.m., to raise awareness that families should have an escape plan in case of fire.

They call it Operation E.D.I.T.H., short for Exit Drill In The Home.

"We had a few families sitting out on the porch participating," said Hudson ambulance captain Louie Adams.

Adams said they want to make sure families have an escape plan in place before a disaster strikes, whether it's a tornado, fire, or flood.

"Number one is to have a plan," Adams said. "Because if you don't there's nothing to act on, and everyone's doing things their own way."

More information about Operation E.D.I.T.H. is available here.
