WATERLOO (AP) -

Waterloo police have arrested a man who they say broke into an apartment while searching for his wife.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports 46-year-old Allen McReynolds was arrested Tuesday on charges of first-degree burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police say McReynolds knocked on another man's door on Sept. 27 and later returned and entered through a bedroom window. They say McReynolds grabbed a .22-caliber rifle, pointed it at the apartment owner and said his wife had been cheating.

Police say McReynolds gave the rifle to the other man and left after searching the house. They say he is prohibited from handling firearms because of a 1994 felony conviction.

McReynolds is being held in the Black Hawk County jail on $105,000 bond.
