Dance-A-Thon planned to raise money to stop bullying

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Calling all third through eighth-graders in the Cedar Valley!

The Cedar Valley chapter of Stand for the Silent is hosting a dance-a-thon as a way to raise money and bring awareness to the bullying epidemic.

The event is set for November 22, 2014 at the Elks Club in Waterloo on Park Avenue. The dancing will be broken up into two time slots: third, fourth and fifth graders will dance from 1:00pm - 3:00pm and sixth, seventh and eighth graders will dance from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.

Schools will soon be given pledge forms for the students and they will need to find people to "sponsor" them to dance.  All sponsorship money can be brought to the Elks Club on the day of the event. All money raised will go to fund anti-bullying events in the Cedar Valley.

Bully prevention is a passion for KWWL's Amanda Goodman. "Bullying is something that is always going to happen.  There will always be a bully.  But we have to teach kids to take a stand, be willing to be that one person who stands up for someone. That someone may not be your friend, but we need to stand up for any and everyone who is getting bullied," said Goodman.
