Gas price relief: Prices in Eastern Iowa less than $3 per gallon

"Three dollars -- I think it's a lot better," said Mario Bennett.

"Great! (The) lower, the better," said Steve Hansen.

"They're fantastic! I haven't seen them this low for a long time," said Cathy Curell.

Drivers agree -- there's a little less pain at the pump as gas prices are dropping below $3 per gallon.

According to AAA, the national average is $3.27 per gallon of unleaded gasoline. But in Iowa, people are seeing gas recorded as low as $2.87 per gallon.

Officials with AAA says these prices should drop, but nothing drastic. They say if everything goes smoothly, buying gas for less than three dollars could be common in many parts of the country this winter.

There are a couple things that people need to look out for that could push gas prices higher, however. The price of crude oil and conflict in the Middle East are two big ones, as well as any hurricanes that could affect off-shore drilling.
