CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Hawkeye Area Down Syndrome Association (HADSA) hosted its 9th annual fun walk Sunday afternoon in Cedar Rapids.

Participants began the day with games, crafts and live music outside NewBo City Market.

The afternoon ended with a mile walk to Czech Village and back to support those living with Down Syndrome.

"The more people we get at these walks, the more we see a future that's more open and accepting for people with Down Syndrome," HADSA Treasurer, Tyler Haskovec said.

Registration for the fun walk was free, but all donations from the event go towards the Hawkeye Area Down Syndrome Association and Gigi's Playhouse to fund educational programming and other programs for people with Down Syndrome and their family members.

Organizers believe they raised over $20,000 from Sunday's walk and through online donations.

This is HADSA's annual fundraising event.
