FAYETTE (KWWL) -

In their usual fashion, the Upper Iowa Peacocks once again rallied for a victory to keep their record streak alive. The Peacocks erased an 18-10 halftime deficit to defeat Augusta 31-25 on Saturday night. The victory was the first ever for Upper Iowa versus the Vikings, and has them sitting 5-0 for the first time in the division II era.

Trailing by 8 in the second half, the Peacocks Cole Jaeschke hit Lucas Hefty on a 14 yard scoring strike. Upper Iowa still trailed by 2 after a failed conversion.

Soon after, the rally hit a speed bump as the Vikings' Chad Curry returned a Hefty fumble to increase the Augustana lead to 25-16 early in the 4th quarter.

That's when Upper Iowa kicked it in to gear. Smith found the end zone on a 5 yard run minutes later to cut the deficit to 2. Then with 5 minutes remaining Jaeschke would hit Shay Gutman on a 12 yard strike to complete the comeback. Upper Iowa tacked on the 2 point conversion for the 31-25 lead.

The defense did the rest. Upper Iowa's Javon Moore picked off a Chase Marso's pass with a minute remaining to seal the historic victory.
