Father of 10 dies, family seeking support

Posted: Updated:

A Cedar Rapids family is grieving after a father of 10 suddenly died after an aneurysm.

36-year-old Adam Robinson was the father of 10 children between the ages of 1-15.

Robinson started a new job as the general manager of the Pizza Ranch in Cedar Rapids, just seven weeks ago.

He changed jobs so he could spend more time with his children.

"They're going to miss out on what a great guy he was and how much he loved them," said Casey Robinson, Adam's wife. "It hurts because it hurts me and it hurts them."

It was a typical Wednesday when Robinson began having severe pains while working, when he was taken to the hospital.

"The surgeries we knew the chances weren't high," said Tony Burrier, Robinson's brother. "But we knew that if there was any chance at all, Adam would take advantage of it. I knew my brother had a good life, it was time for him to move on."

Robinson unexpectedly passed away Thursday, leaving Casey a widow and their 10 children, without a caring father.

The Pizza Ranch on Westdale Drive SE in Cedar Rapids and the one in Iowa City will be helping the Robinson family.

"If we can help out a little bit to get them in a little bit better position in life, then that's what we're here to do," said Brandon Pratt, owner of Pizza Ranch in Cedar Rapids. "Every dollar that's spent on Wednesday October 15th from 5-8 o'clock, we're going to give back to the family."

The thing Robinson treasured the most was the time given to spend with his children and family.

"I have one child of my own, I think about going home to tell one child, and he has 10," said Burrier.

Robinson comes from a family of seven and always wanted a large family.

Casey says he worked hard to make sure every child had more than enough.

Currently, she says getting their little ones to understand that he's no longer there is the hardest part.

"I go home and it's an empty bed, his stuff laying around," said Casey. "He was the main provider, and with him gone, it's never going to be the same."

Visitation for Robinson will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.

If you would like to help the family, you can drop donations of clothing, food, or money to the Pizza Ranch in Cedar Rapids located at 2450 Westdale Dr SW.

On October 15th, the Pizza Ranch in Cedar Rapids and at the Iowa City location, 1610 Sycamore Street, will have a fundraiser, where every dollar spent between 5-8 p.m. will go to Adam Robinson's family.

A family friend has set up a GoFundMe page for the Robinsons. If you would like to donate there, click the link: http://www.gofundme.com/fc5lf0
