In Class 1A District 6, Iowa City Regina played host to a Columbus Junction team with a 3-2 record.
The Regals have bounced back from their first game loss to the Solon Spartans. They have beating their opponents soundly by an average of around 30 points per game.
Needless to say, the Regals took Taylor Swift's advice and decided to "shake it off."
Second play of the game and Regals quarterback Drew Cook hands off to running back Jake Brinkman, and he would take it the distance. Brinkman would run 67 yards for the touchdown.
With the PAT and 20 seconds into the game, the Regals go up by seven.
The Wildcats would put up a defensive stand against the Regals, holding Regina to a field goal. Kicker Jacob Adam would make it look easy as he kicks the ball through the uprights. The Regals would go up by 10 early.
Later in the first, Cook would show patience as he looked for an open receiver. Cook would hit Nick Phillips in the end zone.
The extra point would be good, and Regina would go up by 17 over Columbus Junction.
Still in the first quarter, Cook would hand off to Brink once again with the same results. Brinkman would show off some fancy footwork and follow his blockers downfield for his second touchdown of the night.
Once again the extra point would be good, and Regina would lead 24 to nothing.
Regina's starters would take a seat for the second half as the Regals would beat the Wildcats soundly. Regina wins Friday night 52-6.
