Don Bosco is putting up basketball-type numbers in beating its first five opponents by an average of 65 to 11.
Friday night, the Dons faced an H-L-V team that has been equally impressive, winning its games by an average of 62 to 8.
The Don Bosco Dons began the night hoping to rock, roll and wreck the H-L-V Warriors on the Dons home field tonight. Instead, the Warriors and Dons traded defensive blows for the first seven minutes of the first quarter.
Third possession for the Dons and the last play of the first quarter, Mason Svoboda picks up the team's second first down of the game with a great 21-yard run.
Six plays later, on a fourth down, Svoboda calls his number and runs around the left side and punches it in for a touchdown.
The two-point conversion is good and the Dons lead 8-zero with 8:46 left in the second.
Two possessions later, the Dons are backed up and Svoboda has nowhere to go and he is run over in the end zone for the safety. The Dons lead is now only 8 to 2.
Four minutes later, H-L-V needs a big play and they bust one with #24 Tanner Strudthoff right around the left side, strutting his way and rumbling his way 74 yards for the touchdown.
The Warriors' two-point conversion is no good, but it is now 8-all.
Next play, Svoboda for Bosco says stop...it's hammer time. Around the left side, breaking tackles and his is off and no one is going to touch him as he runs 75 yards to the house for a touchdown.
The two-point conversion fails, but the Dons' lead is 14-8.
The Warriors fumble with only 27 seconds left in the second quarter and the Dons take advantage. Svoboda from 19 yards out finds #15 Zach Hickson in the end zone -- touchdown Dons.
The two-point conversion is no good and the Dons head into halftime 20-8.
The Dons take this one 48-30 as the final.
