Western Dubuque spoils Xavier's homecoming in upset 7-6 win

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier hosted Western Dubuque in a big Class 3A, District 4 match-up on a cold night in Cedar Rapids.

No score in the 2nd quarter until the Saints' defense comes up big.

Western Dubuque's Nolan Baumhover tries to hand off to Ryan Kluesner, but the ball ends up on the turf. Xavier's Nic Eklund picks it up and rumbles 50 yards.

Saints up six to zero after the failed extra point.

Now to the third, Bobcats with a nice drive that is capped off when Baumhover hits Mitch Kramer with a 22-yard touchdown pass.

The point after is good, which makes all the difference.

Western Dubuque leaves Cedar Rapids with the 7-to-6 win, putting Xavier's homecoming on ice.
