Dubuque's St. Mark Youth Enrichment seeking Sponsor Angels for kids

Posted: Updated:
DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Every holiday season, St. Mark Youth Enrichment provides warm winter clothes for kids through its Sponsor Angels program.

The non-profit organization is now seeking people and businesses to join the effort again this year.

Each donor - or Sponsor Angel - will be paired with a family that qualifies for St. Mark's program. The Angel will then buy the requested clothing items and deliver them to the St. Mark Youth Enrichment offices, located at 1201 Locust Street in Dubuque.

People wanting to be involved with this year's program should contact St. Mark to register no later than Nov. 7.

Beth McGorry, St. Mark's development and special event coordinator, will give Sponsor Angels the first name, gender, age and clothing sizes for one or more children by Nov. 12, just in time for holiday shopping.

Due to high demand, St. Mark Youth Enrichment is hoping to register more Sponsor Angels this year than ever before. Families who qualify are in need and their children participate in one or more of the non-profit's before or after school programs, the Summer Learning Program and the Dyersville Summer Learning Program.

"If you are interested in sponsoring one or more children, but do not have time to shop, we have shoppers available," St. Mark wrote in a media release. "Please feel free to make your financial contribution and our shoppers will select gifts for your child."

People who can't afford a financial contribution can also volunteer as a shopper for the program.

The kids will receive the warm winter clothes just in time for Christmas.

People interested in more information can contact Beth McGorry, at (563) 582-6211 Ext. 110 or via email at bmcgorry@stmarkyouthenrichment.org
