The Dubuque Fire Pipes and Drums will hold a free concert later this month.

The bagpipe and drum group will perform at 3 p.m. on Sun., Oct. 26 in Blades Chapel on the University of Dubuque's campus. That's located near the corner of University Avenue and North Algona Street in Dubuque.

The concert will feature guest performer Adrian Melvin, a world-renowned bagpiper and instructor. Melvin will also be conducting a bag-piping seminar that weekend with the Dubuque Fire Pipes and Drums group.

Melvin, a Scotland native, has performed with the Chieftains at the Chicago Symphony Center and appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. He has won numerous solo and group awards throughout the years, competing in bagpipe competitions all over the world.
