DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

An expedition team from the OAR Northwest Organization will be paddling down the length of the Mississippi River, educating students along the way.

The 90-day voyage began September 2, and the crew will be stopping at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium from October 4th through October 7th.

According to a press release, OAR Northwest hopes to spread awareness about one of the most important bodies of water in the United States through the program. By using interactive tools, classrooms are able to follow along and communicate with the expedition team, enriching the learning experience for the students. Students will learn about the environmental impacts of their actions, the diverse animals that call the Mississippi home, and how their local community affects the river. Free curriculum is delivered directly to teachers' e-mails and from the online OAR Northwest Education page.
