CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Free Wi-Fi is coming to downtown Cedar Rapids.

ImOn Communications announced Wednesday that it is currently building a network in the city.

When the service first launches, it will span one square mile of downtown from the NewBo City Market to the McGrath Amphitheater.

The project is being coordinated with the City of Cedar Rapids. Wi-Fi access points  will be powered by city street lights and poles.

Users of the service will get two hours of free access daily.

ImOn is paying for 100% of the costs of the project.

The network is called "ImOn Free Wifi" and some of the network is already live. The company hopes to have the entire network up and running by November 15.
