Referendum Revision: Community meetings a first step in Cedar Falls

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

It won't take 38 years for another school bond issue in Cedar Falls.

The next one could happen within a year or two.

Last month, voters overwhelmingly rejected a $118 million plan that would've built a new high school, new elementary and renovated other buildings. It was the first school bond issue in Cedar Falls since 1976.

A school district spokesperson says they will soon announce a series of community meetings to get feedback on that vote and how to deal with the space crunch going forward.

The district says some voters have already weighed in with ideas of what they want to see before another bond issue goes on the ballot; for example, a more specific breakdown of costs and detailed floor plans for a new high school.
