CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Rapids Park & Recreation Department will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Ushers Ferry Lodge located on 5925 Seminole Valley Trail NE, on Thursday, October 2 from 10:30 to 11:00 am.

In addition to the Ribbon Cutting, an open house will also be held at the Ushers Ferry Historic Village from 4:00 to 7:0 p.m. that afternoon with storytelling and hay rack rides.

According to a press release, the Ushers Ferry Lodge was one of the City's last flood recovery projects combining 18 FEMA project worksheets from 34 flood-impacted buildings on the Ushers Ferry site into a four-season, ADA accessible park facility. The lodge is used for programming in conjunction with the village and for general recreation purposes, helping to meet the deficiency in indoor programming space identified in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. It is also available for special events at Ushers Ferry and Seminole Valley Park and can be rented by the public.
