Northside Oktoberfest transforms Market Street Saturday

IOWA CITY (KWWL) - The Fourth Annual Northside Oktoberfest will take place Saturday in Iowa City, transforming Market Street into Munich.

The event attracts roughly 4,000 people, and will begin at noon Saturday. More than 50 breweries will feature more than 500 beers, while local restaurants will serve favorite dishes. Daylong entertainment includes keg bowling, lederhosen contests, wondering German bands and contests and prizes. Hawkeye fans can also catch the match between Iowa and Purdue Saturday on the big screen in the Brewfest area.

Oktoberfest isn't just for adults. Families are invited to partake in the all-ages SodaFest featuring dozens of sodas and music by nationally known children's musician, Steve Weeks. Other activities include inflatables, a mini-dance marathon and dozens of games.
Tickets are available for purchase at and in person at John's Grocery. Tickets will be sold the day of, but are limited. All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association and the Iowa Children's Museum.
    General admission tickets: $30.00 - specialty drinking glass with entrance at noon
    BrewMaster tickets: $50.00 - a specialty tasting glass and early entrance at 11 a.m.
    SodaFest general admission: $5.00 - 5 soda drink tickets and specialty acrylic tasting soda glass
    Tickets will be an extra $5 day of the event
