West Branch rolls by Bellevue in battle of unbeatens

WEST BRANCH (KWWL) -

Two undefeated teams met Friday night at the Little Rose Bowl in West Branch.

The Comets of Bellevue took on the West Branch Bears. Many say these teams are evenly match as they both like to run the ball and throw sparingly. The winner of the game would have a large advantage in district play.

West Branch would try to control the clock by keeping the ball on the ground. Running back Luke Lenoch would take the handoff early in the first quarter and scamper 10-plus yards before being pushed out of bounds.

A couple plays later, quarterback Lucas Lamont would call his own number and cross the goal line from one yard out. With the extra point, the Bears would go up seven to nothing early.

Bellevue would take to the air to gain some traction. Quarterback Keenan Ploesol would air it out to receiver Alex Hinke for a big gain.

A couple plays later it would be a quarterback keeper straight up the gut. Ploesol would cross the goal line and with the PAT the Comets would tie things up in the first quarter.

West Branch would strike again before halftime. Lamont would handoff to Devin Kindon for a short touchdown run. With the extra point the Bears go up 14 to seven.

West Branch would dominate the second half of the game and give the Comets their first loss of the season.

Bears win Friday night, 38-7.
