Council Bluffs teenager accused of assault after fight at school

A 16-year-old Council Bluffs student faces an assault charge after a physical fight at school sent another teenager to the hospital.

Council Bluffs Police Department says two students were fighting in a common area at Abraham Lincoln High School. A school resource officer says17-year-old Dakota Escritt and 16-year-old Gregary Teer were fighting, and Erscitt fell to the ground, hitting his head on the floor. Erscitt was unconscious from the fall.

The police report says school staff intervened after the fight had ended.

Escritt was taken to Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs for treatment before he was transferred to the Children's Hospital in Omaha. Escritt was last reported in critical condition.

Teer was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury.
